源站原始描述：Under section 3 of the Act, any public gaol could be gazetted as a "lock hospital", in which prisoners certified as suffering from, a contagious disease (often venereal disease) could be detained. A section of Darlinghurst Gaol appears to have served this purpose prior to 25 August 1909, when the State Reformatory for Women, Long Bay was opened.
